Hair Care for Extensions
Shampoo
Washing your hair at least once a week is recommended. Some people like to wash their hair every other week, which is fine just try not to use too much product in between washes.
- Dilute Shampoo with water
- Detangle your hair before you wet it.
- Use a Moisturizing or Hydrating Shampoo.
- Try to use sulfate free shampoo
- Wash the hair in a downward motion
- Do not rub hair together vigorously this can cause extreme tangling and matting.
- Rinse thoroughly
- Always follow shampoo with a conditioner
Condition
To help maintain hair for as long as possible deep conditioning every 2-3 weeks is recommended especially for curly hair. This also makes it easier to manage the hair and creates fewer tangles.
- Apply conditioner and comb hair, starting with the ends working your way up to your scalp
- Leave conditioner on for at least 5 minutes
- When applying a deep treatment/conditioner use moderate heat if possible
- Follow all reconstructing and Repairing treatments with moisturizing conditioner
- Rinse thoroughly
Styling
The benefit of using 100% human hair is that is very versatile, you can style it like your natural hair. You can brush, comb, blow dry, curl with curling iron, straighten with a flat iron and style it any way you want. Please be mindful that heat from blow dryers, flat irons, curling iron etc. cause damage. Just like your natural hair this hair also will break off and become damaged if you abuse it with heat and aggressive styling agents.
- Comb or brush hair out before you style.
- Air dry as much as possible
- Try to use alcohol free products
- The less products used on the hair the better sometimes
- Do not saturate with oil.
- Do not use extreme heat
- Use a heat protectant
Nighttime
Detangle your hair with a brush then braid it, wrap it or tie it up in a bun before going to sleep. This will avoid any unwanted tangles. Do not sleep with your hair wet, as this will create tangles also. I recommend satin pillowcases or bonnets to sleep with.
